On behalf of Marcelo, Alvaro and I, we wanted to give you an update on what's happening with BFC.

Due to COVID-19, there continues to be a great deal of uncertainty on the future of youth sports for the next 12-18 months in the Lower Mainland, in BC and across Canada.

Unlike soccer, futsal has an additional challenge because it is played indoors on a hard court surface. And with the required social distancing measures, playing futsal (even working on the fundamentals) is extremely challenging. The Brazilian way to develop futsal/soccer players is through game play and based on the current "Return to Play" guidelines, it simply isn't possible.

As a result, after much consideration and thought, the Brazilian Futsal Club will be permanently shutting down due to COVID-19. We will not be offering any futsal programs moving forward. This was a tough decision for all three of us to make but it's the right one at this time, given the continuing uncertainty around COVID-19.

That all said, we wanted to let you know that we are extremely proud of all of our players, who participated in our Academy programs, tournaments and travelled to Brazil with us. We are immensely thankful to all your parents, who drove to New Westminster, Edmonds and our tournaments. Thank you for supporting us throughout this incredible futsal journey. We are going to miss seeing every one of your smiling faces at all our Academy sessions.

BFC has absolutely grown the sport of futsal in BC over the last two years. We are proud of this accomplishment but we couldn't have done it without you so thank you very much for your support.

Please feel free to keep in touch with all of us at our personal email addresses.
